IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), effective April 24, 2026.
This decision was not made lightly. We are deeply proud of the meaningful work accomplished through the IOP and the lives impacted by the dedication and compassion of our clinical team. It has been an honor to serve our clients and their families.
Our top priority during this transition is continuity of care. All current clients have been notified, and we are working individually with each person to ensure appropriate referrals and uninterrupted support. We are coordinating with trusted community providers to help facilitate a smooth transition.
While the IOP will be closing, DBT For You remains committed to teaching DBT skills to individuals, school personnel, clinicians, and organizations. We will continue offering skills classes, coaching, training and consultations, and we look forward to serving our community in these capacities.
*** New DBT Skills classes will begin April 9, 2026 ***
We are grateful to our staff, referral partners, and the community for their trust and support.

The mission of DBT for You is to help New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont develop a shared language between mental health professionals, educators, health care professionals, and clients in order to collaboratively address the current well-documented mental health crisis.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based therapy modality that combines cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and direct teaching of skills, is this shared language. It is a principle-driven treatment, with a curriculum that has been modified for use in schools as well as varied mental health settings. It offers social-emotional and executive functioning skills that can be taught across mental health, educational, health care, and home environments.
DBT offers language that can be used to assist all people with emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal communication, awareness, and balanced thinking.

Questions…
Is DBT a mental health treatment? Yes. See the New York Times article to gain a better understanding of the efficacy of this treatment: ‘The Best Tool We Have’ for Self-Harming and Suicidal Teens
Do you accept insurance? No. We have decided that our relationships with insurance companies are not sustainable. We will be unable to accept insurance for payments any longer. HSA funds may still be applicable.
Does DBT include a curriculum that can be taught in schools? Yes. There is a modified version of standard DBT called DBT Steps A which was created to be taught in schools.
Can most kids and adults benefit in some way from DBT? Yes. We have even seen the impact of DBT skills within our program. Our staff have identified positive changes within themselves and their own relationships that seem to be a result of applying DBT assumptions and skills in their own lives.
I would like to thank Beth and her team for accepting me as an intern and sharing their education, insight, and skills with me along the way. My internship at DBTweens, DBTeens, and DBTwenties has provided an invaluable experience. Beth and her team extol genuine care and support throughout all therapeutic interventions. This internship provided a window of opportunity to observe the positive outcomes of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT skills are highly beneficial for everyone, they help with emotion regulation, stress management, and relationship building. Emotions set the stage for how we view and respond to the world. They drive our decisions, build our relationships and help to form our personalities. Fostering healthy emotional development in young people at a time when their emotional foundation is being laid is paramount to lifelong emotional wellbeing. This experience has made a profound impact in my planned approach to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and has prompted my enrollment in a DBT certification course. I look forward to offering an evidence-based non-pharmacological intervention as a treatment option in my future practice.
